The Journey: A Perspective

In the previous posts, we discussed God’s Greater plan with the flow chart. If you missed that post you can check it out here. In this post, we will discuss the journey of the ‘children of Israel’ from Egypt to the Promised Land.

In order to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt and demonstrate his authority over the gods of Egypt GOD sent plagues to Egypt.

  1. The first plague was the turning of the water of the Nile into blood which basically polluted the water and cut off an important source of life.
  2. The second plague was the plague of frogs.
  3. The third plague was mosquitoes which afflicted people and animals.
  4. The fourth plague consisted of flies.
  5. The fifth plague was pestilence which killed cattle and sheep.
  6. The sixth plague was sores and skin infections.
  7. The seventh plague was hail with fire and thunder which affected humans, animals, and plants.
  8. The eighth plague was Locusts which devoured vegetation.
  9. The ninth plague was Darkness which covered the land.
  10. The tenth plague was the death of the firstborn of man and beast.

Now these were the signs god showed them to warn the King of Egypt and its people to let his people go. But they were reluctant to obey GOD until the last plague. After which the children of Israel came out and journeyed to the chosen land. However, it is to be noted that not all who came out of Egypt came into the chosen land. So what is the significance of these events mentioned in the Old Testament. We will see this in the next paragraph.

If you have read the Book of Revelation mentions seven seals as mentioned below:

  1. The first seal: a white horse
  2. The second seal: a red horse
  3. The third seal: a black horse
  4. The fourth seal: a pale horse
  5. The fifth seal: souls crying from under the altar
  6. The sixth seal: earthquake, sun, and moon, and stars.
  7. The seventh seal: silence in heaven

Apart from the above it is mentioned that GOD’s people will be persecuted severely for their belief. Now if you look closely there seems to be a similarity between the plagues in the Old Testament and the seals mentioned above. It seems like GOD is telling the world to leave his people alone and not persecute them but instead of listening to him they are going according to their own will.

it is to be noted that after the seven seals are opened and the trumpet sounded, the LORD’s kingdom will be established. This kingdom will be only for a millennium and after that Satan will again be released to deceive people. Does this sound familiar to something? it seems very familiar to the 40 year period which the people spent in the desert because they were deceived, which atleast seems like, to go according to their own wishes and create Gods for themselves.

And as discussed in the previous posts the End times mean transitioning into a new nation namely the Kingdom of God. Therefore it is highly likely the world which is equivalent to Egypt in the end times will experience the above-mentioned plagues during the end times.
